New beginning for Korea-Norway civillian culture & art diplomacy

The representatives of cultural and artistic organizations in Korea met with Frode Solberg, Norwegian Ambassador to Korea.

At Kimboseong art center(Jongro-gu, Seoul) on the 28th, representatives of cultural and artistic organizations in Korea met with Frode Solberg (Norwegian Ambassador to Korea) and communicated in depth to restore cultural and artistic exchanges cut off by COVID-19.

 '3 artists 3 colors' exhibition of works by Heidi Fosli (Norway), Elsa Victorios (USA), and Chris Bleicher (Germany), which were presented as special guests of 'PEACE, AGAIN' jointly exhibited with the Haegeumgang theme museum, was being held at the art center.

Heidi Fosli won the Academy Arts-Sciences-Lettres medal during the '3 artists 3 colors' exhibition period. Founded in 1915, Academy Arts-Sciences-Lettres medals are awarded to writers, scientists, and artists who have made outstanding achievements around the world, and  Heidi Forsli is honored to win the medal for the first time in Norwegian history.

The ambassador Frode Solberg appreciated the works of '3 artists 3 colors' and acknowleged worth of the artworks.

 

 In the discussion after viewing the exhibition, the ambassador Frode Solberg and Yu Chunup (director of Haegeumgang theme museum/ president of International Culture and Arts Federation), Song Miryang (chairman of policy committee of International Culture and Arts Federation), Geum Bosung (director of Kimboseong art center/president of Korean artists council), Kim Cheolsoo (director of the Daesan art museum in Changwon/chairman of Museum's association of Gyeongnam province) agreed to enhance cooperation in cultural and artistic exchanges between Korea and Norway and talked about plans to invite Norwegian and other foreign artists to Geoje city and to hold exhibitions. Also, they talked about a plan to invite the ambassador for the occasion.

Directors, co-representative of Haegeumgang theme museum,Yu Chunup said "Today's meeting will be a touchstone for a new chapter for civilian diplomacy and culture & art diplomacy between Korea and Norway,"  Kyung Myungja said "Expecting to open a new channels sustitute for disconnected, closed exchanges of culture & art and suitable post- Corona era I hope that many people can enjoy the exhibition and heal the mind and body suppressed by COVID-19"

'3 artists 3 colors' will be exhibited at the Daesan art museum (Changwon, Gyeongnam province) from October 4th to 24th due to the great interest and popularity.
 After that, it will be exhibited as a New Year's special exhibition from January 1 to February 25 in 2022 at the Haegeumgang theme museum (Geoje, Gyeongnam province)
